Lighting areas in fashion and department stores

Facade/entrance

Light generates an attractive long-distance effect, emphasises the overall picture of a store and separates it from the neighbouring competition. A bright and inviting entrance attracts customers into the store and creates a pleasant ambiance.

Escalators and waiting areas near lifts

Light guides the customers to other levels. Light emphasises or produces eye-catchers in order to draw customers into transition areas. Lighting solutions often serve as decorative elements in waiting areas.

Display windows

The display window area is one of the store's most important attractions and the brand's business card. Here extremely bright and high-contrast lighting is required. Dynamic lighting produces theatrical effects and places special highlights on the products on display. Flexible lighting solutions and efficient reflectors are particularly effective here.

Sales room – interior

Here the focus is clearly on the goods. For every product sector the lighting solutions must be perfectly coordinated as regards lighting technology, light colour temperature and beam angle. Optimum colour rendition and brilliant scene setting for goods are important criteria for the lighting quality. Good lighting arouses the customers' attention and produces a sales-promoting atmosphere.

Main aisles

In aisles, light serves as a means of guiding the customers and leads them into the individual areas of the store. Light gives large rooms a structure and sub-divides them into sub-areas. This is done on the basis of visible lighting effects or high-contrast lighting.

Peripheral areas

Lighting in peripheral areas is of essential importance and demanding. It gives the room orientation and structure and ensures that there is a lively room ambiance. Higher illuminance at the displays ensures an upgrading of the goods. Of particular importance here, too, are optimum colour rendition as well as a brilliant scene setting for the goods.

Fascination Points

Fascination points are eye-catchers or special activity areas which are supposed in particular to attract the customers' attention. The scene setting for these highlights is correspondingly dramatic as regards the lighting technique. Lighting instruments are, for example, higher illuminance, a change in the lighting technology or narrow beam angles intensifying the spotlighting effect on the goods.

Cash desk area

The cash desk area requires its own lighting concept. Here the requirements of glare-free workplace lighting and a bright, sales-promoting lighting atmosphere coincide. Lighting elements are also used to identify the cash desk area and emphasise brand elements.
