Choithram supermarket, Dubai: Maximum freshness, minimum energy consumption
For the Choithram supermarket chain from the UAE, Ansorg has implemented a new lighting concept which systematically places Choithram’s hall marks in the foreground: fresh products, variety and pleasant shopping enjoyment.
For more than 30 years, Choithram in the United Arab Emirates has stood for fresh food, varied selection and excellent service. The company has set itself the objective of special shopping enjoyment as added value for its customers.
For the supermarket in the special business area of Silicon Oasis in Dubai, Ansorg was entrusted with the design and implementation of the lighting concept. Besides the emphasizing of quality, variety and freshness of the food, special attention was to be given to energy saving.
The perfect interplay of various lighting solutions finally yielded a tailor-made, effective overall result for Choithram. The lighting concept is characterized by three main features: all of the lighting solutions applied are consistently equipped with metal halide lamps (HIT) of one single type. That saves not only energy, but also maintenance costs. The combination of HIT technology and special mood filters additionally guarantees a natural and unfalsified emphasizing of freshness and quality of merchandise together with the best lighting quality. After all, a lighting design rich in contrast makes the customer focus more strongly on the goods, thus setting the scene for them and underlining the variety of the assortment.
In the area for fresh fruit and vegetables pendant luminaires of the Maxx Classic series and spotlights of the Boxx series in combination with Sun filters ensure the fresh wares are emphasized. In the counter areas, the Punta recessed spotlight was used. For delicatessen, fish, sausage and meat products, the Rosé filter underlines the freshness and naturalness of the goods. On the other hand, the scene is tastefully set for bread and bakery products with the help of the Gold filter.
In the aisle areas, the luminaire Silla with the double-directional projector which is predestined for this application was used. Silla’s special double-symmetrical reflector directs the light systematically onto the shelves, the illumination of the aisle floor takes second place. The goods are thus emphasized to a multiple degree.
With the lighting concept implemented, Ansorg contributes decisively to conveying to the customers the value added of Choithram supermarkets:
Shopping enjoyment “full of goodness”.
