LED
Advantages of LED technology
- It produces UV/IR-free light and so there is, in comparison with conventional lamps, no thermal radiation to the illuminated object
- Due to the hemispherical radiation pattern of the LED, no directing of the light fl ux around the light source is necessary. At this point there is no light loss as a result of which the efficiency of the LED rises
- It revolutionises light in its controllability. For example coloured and dynamic colour light can be generated and the LED light flux can be completely dimmed. The full light flux is, moreover, available immediately after switching-on.
- It shows marked advantages in power consumption as compared with low-voltage halogen luminaires or luminaires for compact fluorescent lamps
- It has a long product life of up to 50,000 hrs, permitting long maintenance intervals
- It is vibration and shock-proof
- It also permits new structural shapes in luminaire development
